Former Real Madrid star Roberto Carlos has urged Colombian international James Rodriguez to be patient and wait for his chances. He added that Zidane trusts him and he will get regular playing time at the Bernabeau.
James Rodriguez spent two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich after joining his parent club last summer. He had an impressive loan campaign with the Bavarians and everyone expected that the Colombian will be welcomed back. But chances are hard to come by for the Colombian this season.
“Zidane has a lot of respect for James,” Carlos told BLU Radio. “He makes lots of rotations and whenever James comes on he always does well.
“The most important thing now is that he keeps on training as well as he has been and that he maintains the confidence he has in himself.
“The fans love him.
“To tell you the truth, I care for him and, whenever I see him, I give him a big hug. He has done so much for this club and even more for his country.”
James signed for Real Madrid after winning the Golden Boot in the 2014 World Cup. He featured regularly for Los Blancos in his initial years at the Bernabeau but was sent out on loan as he wasn’t in Zidane’s plans.
Things haven’t changed this season too as James has featured in just 7 La Liga games. Zidane has preferred other options in his team, leaving him frustrated. Many Premier League clubs, as well as rivals Atletico, are interested in signing James.
