Real Madrid will be searching for their first win of the season when they travel to Seville to take on Real Betis in their second league game of the 2020/21 campaign.
Los Blancos began their title defence with a disappointing 0-0 draw with Real Sociedad last weekend but will be hope for a change in fortune against Manuel Pellegrini’s side on Saturday.
Having played a 4-2-3-1 formation to accommodate Martin Odegaard in their first league game, Zinedine Zidane is likely to revert to his trademark 4-3-3 and we take a look at how his side made line up against Betis.
Goalkeeper – Courtois
Thibaut Courtois will continue in goal for Madrid against Betis after keeping a clean sheet in his first league game. The Belgium international made an important save last weekend to keep the game at 0-0 and will hope to enjoy another good day at the office.
Defenders – Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Mendy
Dani Carval and Ferland Mendy will keep their places as full-backs in the team on Saturday except there is an injury before the clash. The pair have been solid at the back since last and look to continue their roles.
Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos will also likely keep their central defensive pairing in Zidane’s set up after a convincing display in their last game.
Midfielders – Modric, Casemiro, Kroos
The favourite midfield trio of Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos will also be lloking to take charge on Saturday with all three points up for grabs. Casemiro started the last game from the bench but his presence will be needed against a much physical opposition in Betis.
Forwards – Rodrygo, Benzema, Vinicius
The three forwards combined had a total of two shots on target against La Real but that record will have to be improved over the weekend if Madrid are to beat the Seville-based side.
Real Madrid predicted XI vs Real Betis: Courtois; Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Mendy; Modric, Casemiro, Kroos; Rodrygo, Benzema, Vinicius.
