Valencia will be playing Real Madrid on Sunday at the Mestalla Stadium in a bid to put an end to their winless streak in their last four games in the league.

Los Che last won a game in September, beating current league leaders Real Sociedad by a goal to nil with Maximiliano Gomez netting the only goal of the game.

Madrid’s defence and midfield have not function to the maximum best so far and they ware likely to be tested once again over the weekend against Javi Gracia men.

Here, we at Real Madrid Unofficial take a look at some of the key clashes on the pitch that could determine the outcome of the game at the Mestalla.

Jaume Domenech vs Thibaut Courtois

Interestingly, the Spain international has displaced Jasper Cillessen in goal as the first-choice for Valencia. He has kept just one clean sheet in the eight games played but has contributed immensely to his side taking some points from a couple games already.

Thibaut Courtois on the other hand has not conceded in three games so far this season in the league but his last five games across all competitions has seen him conceded at least one per game.

Luis Gaya vs Rodrygo Goes

The Valencia captain was one of the players to have escaped the mass exodus this summer. He as started the season on a brighter note despite a poor form for his club and he could up against Marco Asensio on Sunday. The Madrid winger is still struggling in front of goal but there is a lot of optimism he can still become crucial in the game.

Maximiliano Gomez vs Karim Benzema

A total of six league goals has been scored among the two, with both Maximiliano Gomez and Karim Benzema scoring three each for their clubs respectively.

They could also be key to deciding the outcome of the game considering how their goalscoring record has surfaced.
They will both need to be clinical in front of goal should they want to grab all three points for their clubs.

Carlos Soler vs Federico Valverde

A promising midfield battle this game promises to be. Soler has had more chances in the middle of the park due to a couple of player sales. He has already contributed directly to two goals and will need to be at his best against Madrid.

Valverde on the other hand looks to have settled very well in the Los Blancos team and has been playing week in week out since the start of the season. His attacking and defensive prowess gives him the edge over Luka Modric.
