Luka Jovic says he was ‘unlucky’ at Santiago Bernabeu

Real Madrid loanee Luka Jovic unveiled as an Eintracht Frankfurt player yesterday, having arrived at the club a week ago.

The Serbia international talked to the media during his unveiling, addressing a number of issues including the reason being his struggles at the Spanish capital since making the move to join Zinedine Zidane’s team.

“I think it had to do with the little time I was able to play. It’s never easy at a team like Real Madrid, where the style is different and the pressure is always very high. That’s why it was the best thing to take the step of leaving to come back here,” said Jovic about the matter.

Luka Jovic went into details to describe his time at the Santiago Bernabeu and identified some wrongdoings he felt he could have overturned if he were given enough time at the club.

“I was unlucky. Injuries took their toll on me and I didn’t do well in my private life either. I was lucky to have been able to train with the best players in the world on a daily basis. I’ve gained experience and I consider myself a better player now. Despite the fact that I wasn’t able to have continuity on the pitch, I take a lot of positive things from Madrid,” he added.

Jovic is back in Germany for a loan spell, hoping to rediscover his best of forms that saw him being signed by Madrid in the summer of 2019. He has notched up three goals already in 76 minutes of action and will likely return to Spain in the summer with the view of playing a more advanced role than the one he was given before by the manager.
