Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has been confirmed to have tested positive for coronavirus, reports confirmed on Tuesday morning.
However, it’s encouraging to note that the 73-year-old hasn’t shown any symptoms so far, making him vulnerable to the virus than the youthful group of people.
A statement on the club’s official website on Tuesday read: “Real Madrid C. F. would like to inform that our president Florentino Pérez has tested positive in the COVID-19 tests that he periodically undergoes, although he is not showing any symptoms.”
The club’s president had fortunately not been in contact with the squad in the last few weeks but was present at the Stefano di Stefano Stadium on Saturday in the 1-2 loss to Levante.
With regards to the squad, defender Nacho Fernandez is still in isolation at home after testing positive for the virus some weeks ago while manager Zinedine Zidane has resumed training with the squad after testing negative for Covid-19.
Perez is expected to be quarantined for the next days under the care of the medical team should he begin to show symptoms.
