Vinicius Junior came off the bench to score twice for Real Madrid in their league game against Levante on Sunday.
Madrid went into the game as favourites having thumped Deportivo Alaves in their opening game of the season last weekend but Levante proved a tough nut to crack.
Real Madrid took the lead early in the game, with Karim Benzema assisting Gareth Bale to score his first goal for the club after two years.
Bale shot into the net after receiving a pass from the Frenchman inside the penalty box after just five minutes to give Madrid the lead.
The Los Blancos continued to press to add to their lead before the end of the first 45 minutes but were unlucky to see strikes from Isco, David Alaba, and Bale all go off target.
The home side came into the second half with a different and determined mindset and leveled the score after just 32 seconds into the second period of the game.
Roger Marti’s effort went through the legs of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, whose outstretched left hand came into contact with the ball but couldn’t prevent it from going into the net.
Jose Campana scored nine minutes later to put Levante in front, capitalizing on some poor defending from Madrid.
Responding to the home team’s second goal, Carlo Ancelotti brought on Marco Asensio, Rodrygo Goes, and Vinicius in an attempt to get something from the game.
It was Vinicius who made the most impact, scoring from a tight angle after being put through on goal by Casemiro to make it 2-2 but Rober Pier scored almost immediately to restore the home side’s lead.
Vinicius turned up once again to draw his side level after Benzema set him up nicely.
The game ended 3-3 with Madrid failing to capitalize on a red card shown to Levante goalkeeper, Aitor Fernandez in the closing stages of the encounter.
