Real Madrid 5-2 Celta Vigo: Player Ratings | La Liga 2021/22

BERNABEU IS BACK!!!

Real Madrid emerged victorious in a highly entertaining game against Celta Vigo at the newly renovated Santiago Bernabeu. The captain for the night, Karim Benzema, came in big with 3 goals for Blancos. Vini scored a phenomenal goal and gave several fans at the stadium a memorable moment, celebrating with them. The debutant Eduardo Camavinga had a dream come true after putting the ball in the back of the net in his first game for Madrid and also in front of the home fans.

The visitor’s made a bright start to the game, taking the lead in the fourth minute of the game, courtesy of Santi Mina’s strike. Coudet’s men were compact and solid in their defence, bringing the majority of their players in their own half while defending. Cervi scored the second goal for Celta and went with a 2:1 lead into half-time. Visitors quickly broke through lines and troubled Real Madrid’s defence. Dituro was on his toes throughout the game and made several decent saves to deny any further damage.

Ancelloti’s men showed tremendous determination in the game and overcame Celta’s lead twice. The home-side gave a stunning response to going behind in the opening minutes of the game. Los Blancos grew stronger as the game progressed and started the second half with great intensity, which eventually helped them complete a 5-star performance.

Even after an emphatic victory, the Italian will have to resolve the defensive issue. Madrid’s defence looked vulnerable on numerous occasions and was finding it burdensome to contain Santi Mina and Iago Aspas.

Thibaut Courtois – 6

The Belgian couldn’t do much about the goals conceded but made some brilliant saves in the game. Courtois whipped accurate long balls on various instances for Vini to attack, which troubled the visitor’s defence to some extent.

Miguel Gutierrez- 6

The La Fabrica product started the game strongly and was actively involved in the game till the time he was taken off. Gutierrez was caught defensively numerous times and made some questionable decisions. The youngster registered an assist to his name that helped Madrid to equalize for the second time in the game.

Nacho Fernandez – 5

The Spaniard came in from an injury and was looking rusty. Nacho was at fault for the first goal and the second goal as well, going in with a sloppy tackle on Aspas that opened Madrid’s defence wide open for Celta to attack.

Eder Militao – 5.5

The Brazilian was the leader of the defence tonight but failed to deliver his best performance. Militao was uncomfortable defending Aspan and Mina. The defender also came close to scoring the sixth goal for the night in the final minute.

Dani Carvajal-5.5

The Spaniard didn’t provide much threat while attacking and made some sloppy passes, one of them nearly led to Celta’s goal.

Luka Modric – 6.5

The midfield maestro is unstoppable even at the age of 36 and was heavily involved in the game. Modric was even close to scoring after a sublime run. The Croatian made 13 misplaced passes which are unusual.

Casemiro – 6

The Brazilian looked tired and was one of the players to blame for the first goal. Casemiro showed his physicality in the middle of the park but also made some untidy passes which exposed the defence.

Federico Valverde-7

Valverde was industrious in midfield for Blancos. He used his pace to break through the lines. The Uruguayan assisted the opening goal with a brilliant pull back to Benzema and was also hugely involved in the second goal.

Eden Hazard- 5.5

The Belgian started the game with confidence and had some decent chances to score but he was not able to impose himself on the game.

Karim Benzema – 9

The veteran scored his first hat-trick for the club since April 2019. The Frenchman is getting better with age and was well deserved ‘King Of The Match’. He also assisted Vini with a stunning pass.

Vinicius Junior – 8.5

The young Brazilian was actively involved in the game from the beginning and was close to scoring in many instances in the first half. Vini calmly put the ball in the back of the net in the second half and helped to team to go in front for the first time. Vinicius tormented Celta’s defence with his pace and trickery. The youngster also earned a penalty which helped Benzema to complete the hat-trick.

Eduardo Camavinga – 7

Camavinga had a memorable debut scoring his first goal for the club. The Frenchman also made some good passes and was composed on the ball.

Marco Asensio – 6

The Spaniard replaced Modric in the 79th minute and tried to impress the manager but did not have much influence on the game.

Rodrygo – N/A

The Brazilian was one of the late substitutions and replaced Vinicius.

Marcelo – N/A

The club captain came in very late for the young Miguel Gutierrez.
