Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti says Eden Hazard’s fitness issues has made it difficult for him to play him in two consecutive games.

The Belgian has been decent for the club so far this season, featuring in all four of the league games Madrid has played.

Eden Hazard has started three and had once been introduced from the bench, averaging 51 minutes per game.

He was not used in the UEFA Champions League game against Inter Milan on Wednesday, raising eyebrows after the game.

However, speaking ahead of the league game against Valencia the gaffer explained why it’s been a headache for him to play for the Belgium international.

“Hazard didn’t play the last game as he had a small knee injury,” Ancelotti told the press during his press conference on Saturday. “That also bothered him yesterday, so we’ll see what happens. He has improved in general, but we need to be careful with him because of the past injuries. To play him in two matches in a row could be tough. He’s not yet at the level we all want, but we’re all confident that he’ll get back to his best.”

Ancelotti also had a bit on Eduardo Camavinga’s life at Madrid so far and confirmed he is surprised by the player’s progress so far.

He added: “Yes, it has surprised me a little, to be honest. We all knew the quality he has, physically and technically. Then, he has shown his personality and character on the pitch, which we didn’t know about as much. He doesn’t get worried on the pitch, as he is confident in his ability.”

The Los Blancos plays away to Valencia at the Mestalla on Sunday, looking to return to the top of the table.
