Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti says it will be difficult to leave out Rodrygo Goes in his starting lineup when his side comes up against Barcelona over the weekend.
The Brazilian gave out one of his best performances in a Madrid shirt as the Los Blancos thrashed Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday night.
Rodrygo Goes was on the scoresheet for Madrid in the second half of the game as he joined Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema.
His magnificent game looks to have given Ancelotti a headache already ahead of the El Clasico on Sunday, with the gaffer admitting it will be difficult to bench the youngster.
“He did well too and I liked his defensive work,” he said during his post-match conference. “I don’t know [if he’ll start vs Barcelona], but it would be tough to make a change. We’ll need to look at things over the coming days. It’s a different game.”
On his thoughts about the entire game, the Italian added: “We were good from the very start. We knew that they’d be dangerous on the counter. We defended well. I’m happy with the clean sheet, as that always makes it more likely for us to win. When we keep a clean sheet, we always win [well… except vs Villarreal]. It’s all about defensive commitment and today it wasn’t only the defenders who played well. The midfield won all their battles and still have ambition. All I can do is applaud them. I can’t say anything more than that.”
The win sees Madrid go level on points with Sheriff Tiraspol, six points each after three games. Sheriff were undone by Inter Milan at the San Siro last night and the defeat leaves the group-wide open ahead of the next round of games.
Real Madrid away from the Champions League will face Barcelona over the weekend in the league.
