After dropping their first points of the 2022/23 Spanish La Liga campaign, Real Madrid will be bidding to get back to winning ways when they face Getafe.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side, despite taking the lead against Osasuna last weekend could not hang on to it as Kike Garcia equalised for the away side to end the game 1-1.

Getafe on the other hand, lost 3-2 to Barcelona in their last league game and will also look to bounce back to winning ways.

Getafe has competed at this level of football for six consecutive seasons, finishing eighth, fifth, and eighth between 2018 and 2020. However, the previous two years have been difficult, with finishes of 15th and 16th, respectively.

While this, the Deep Blue Ones have struggled to maintain consistency thus far this term, with a total of seven points from seven games leaving them in 14th place in the league.

After suffering a humiliating loss at Valencia on September 4, Getafe won back-to-back matches against Real Sociedad and Osasuna. However, they were unable to capitalise on the success and lost their most recent match, 3-2, at home to Real Valladolid.

The club led by Quique Sanchez Flores will be conscious of the importance of the task ahead of them this weekend, but they will be more rested than Madrid because they played in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Real Madrid has only managed to pick up one point from their last two trips to Getafe’s Coliseum Alfonso Perez in Spain’s top division, despite the fact that Getafe has only lost one of their last three league meetings with Los Blancos and won that matchup 1-0 last season.

For this game, Getafe will get Luis Milla back from suspension, and the 27-year-old is anticipated to start in centre midfield.

The injuries sustained by Mauro Arambarri and Jaime Seoane in the loss to Real Valladolid the previous time they played will prevent them from competing against the Spanish champions.

Enes Unal and Borja Mayoral are slated to start again as the team’s front two, and Carles Alena and Angel Algobia should keep their positions in midfield. Head coach Sanchez is expected to resist the urge to rearrange his lineup.

Thibaut Courtois, a Belgian international, has now missed Real Madrid’s last two games due to a back ailment, and he is also unable to play in this contest.

Andriy Lunin should remain in the starting lineup because Ancelotti is not taking any chances with the goalie, while Dani Ceballos is definitely out due to a hamstring injury that could keep him out until early in 2023.

Other than that, Real Madrid is in good shape going into the game, and Luka Modric, who was an injury replacement against Shakhtar, is probably going to play.

Rodrygo might play through the centre in this match because Karim Benzema, who is not injured, was left off the roster.
