Camavinga wanted to defend this badge despite numerous offers – Florentino Perez

Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez has revealed midfielder Eduardo Camavinga was keen on playing for the club despite being approached by some of Europe’s top clubs.

Camavinga signed his contract with the club on Wednesday, one which sees him stay until the summer of 2027. The midfielder was also unveiled following the signing of his deal.

Perez welcomed Camavinga to the club and spoke to the audience present at the player’s unveiling at the Valdebebas, explaining why the club pursued to sign the youngster.

“This club welcomes a young French player who I firmly believe will show his talent, strength and a desire to succeed. Along with his family, he has fought to achieve one of his great dreams…Since he was young, he has fought to one day wear the Real Madrid shirt. That moment to wear the Real Madrid shirt has arrived.”

The club’s president also went on to add that the France international was wanted by some of Europe’s top clubs but the player only wanted Real.

“Even at 18 years of age, he was wanted by several of Europe’s biggest clubs. Camavinga wanted to defend this badge. We have known about his qualities since two years ago, despite his young age.”

The player is expected to add a new dimension to the already star-studded Madrid midfield and may have to wait for his chances to hit the ground running at the club.
