Zinedine Zidane led Real Madrid to another victory on Sunday night when they defeated Eibar with a 3-1 scoreline.
Goals from Karim Benzema, Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez was enough for the defending champions to go past Jose Luis Mendiliber’s side, who found a consolation goal through Kike.
Real Madrid took the lead in the fifth minute after Karim Benzema latched unto a great pass from Rodrygo Goes to put it past Marko Dmitrovic in the Eibar goal.
Once again, it was Real Madrid’s midfield who did the majority of the work with Luka Modric making a run through the middle before finding the Brazil international.
The Croatia international marked his longest streak of games played in a row with a goal minutes later when he finished off Benzema’s pull-out for him to double Madrid’s lead. That was his second league goal this campaign in 14 games.
The home side were allowed a back into the game with Kike scoring what was the sweetest goal on the night after outside the 18-yard box. His goal meant that Madrid failed to keep back-to-back clean sheets (also against Athletic Bilbao).
The Los Blancos went into the break with a 2-1 lead and could have been three if not the fact that Benzema’s second goal was ruled out for offside.
There was little chances for both sides after the recess but it was Jose Luis Mendiliber’s men who came the closest to drawing level and they were unfortunate to have not won a penalty following Sergio Ramos elbow coming to contact with the ball.
The Madrid captain also made a vital block in added time to deny Pedro Bigas from finding the back of the net.
Shortly after, Lucas Vazquez put the game to bed with his first goal of the 2020/21 La Liga season with the game ending 3-1 in favor of Madrid.
The Whites are now second on the league table, level on points with first-placed Atletico Madrid and will now face Granada in their next game on Wednesday.
