Real Madrid may have won the Spanish La Liga this season, but they play one their most defining games in the 2019/20 campaign when they play Manchester City in the Champions League on Friday.
Madrid lost the first league encounter at the Santiago Bernabeu in February, falling to a 1-2 defeat despite Isco’s opener.
Ahead of the return fixture, Zinedine Zidane faces a selection headache as to who to go with on the right side of attack against City.
Zidane has everyone back except for Sergio Ramos and Mariano Diaz, who are suspended and tested positive for coronavirus respectively.
Madrid’s left side of attack has been a major tough pick for the Frenchman during this season, with Eden Hazard, Vinicius Jr, and Rodrygo all taking their turns on that flank.
But Hazard and Vinicius have been the most used players in that position and the manager is facing a tough decision with regards to his best pick on Friday.
The Belgium international may not have lived up to expectation in his first season with Los Blancos, but after recovering from his injury issues he could come in with experience against the Citizens.
Vinicius on the other hand was beginning to show glimpses of his style and threat heading into the end of the domestic season.
Hazard definitely has the upper hand over the Brazilian with his vast experience, having faced City nine times during his time in the Premier League.
He may not have enjoyed a good time in those meetings with the Citizens but playing against familiar faces in a new club could prove key for the Belgian.
The Brazil international on the other hand has had a good time anytime he has come up against the big clubs, with his performances against Barcelona at the Bernabeu a worthy mention.
In the fixture at home to Pep Guardiola’s side, the youngster provided the assist for Isco’s goal, before being replaced by Gareth Bale.
His withdrawal also gave Kyle Walker the chance to surge forward, adding a bit of pace to City’s attack before the away side won the game.
Zinedine Zidane will definitely be considering whether to go with Hazard’s experience or once again trust the intelligence of Vinicius to secure the needed victory.
