Real Madrid were in a red hot form of Saturday afternoon when they hosted SD Huesca at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium.
Goals from Eden Hazard, Karim Benzema and Federico Valverde were too many to be matched by Michel’s side, who continue to look for their first win of the 2020/21 La Liga campaign.
The first half seemed to be heading for a goalless end, with the visiting team set up to sit deep and hit Madrid on the counter attack.
However, Zinedine Zidane’s side kept their patience build up to unlock Huesca’s defence and were rewarded on the 40th minute mark with Hazard hitting the ball from a long range to open the scoring.
The Belgium international’s goal was his first goal for the Los Blancos since last scoring for them last season in the 4-2 win over Granada at the Santiago Bernabeu.
With five minutes to go until the end of the first half, Benzema also finished of neatly from the assist of Lucas Vazquez, who continued to flourished in the right-back position.
Ferland Mendy, who started the game from the bench was introduced in the 52nd minute after Vazquez picked up a knock and Madrid added a third shortly with Valverde scoring his second league goal this campaign.
With a game against Inter Milan coming up in midweek, Zidane decided to take of Hazard, Valverde, Marco Asensio and Casemiro to give them enough rest before facing the Italian side.
The substitution also saw the introduction of Vinicius Junior, Isco, Rodrygo Goes and Toni Kroos into the game with 30 minutes until the end of the game.
Huesca grabbed a consolation goal through David Ferreiro but their hopes of getting back into the game was dashed by Benzema who added to his league tally to make it 4-1 for the host.
The win sends Zidane’s side back to the top of the league having played one game less while Huesca still languish in the 18th position with five points.
Madrid will look to carry the same momentum into games against Milan in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday before returning to league action to face Valencia prior to the international break.
