Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti has admitted his side will have to work on their defending with the attacking side of their game not a problem.
The Italian spoke to the club’s official TV channel where he talked about his team and the upcoming crucial game against Barcelona.
Ancelotti said his staff are more concerned about the defensive side of their game as they try to improve the Los Blancos’ chances of claiming a trophy this season.
“For our team the most important thing is always defending properly with a low, a medium and also a high block. It’s easier for us to defend with a low block and then counterattack because of the personnel we have offensively, though. Defending the right way is the key to everything. We’ve won every game where we have not conceded. This team has no problem scoring goals, that’s why most of the time I focus on defense,” said Ancelotti.
The former Everton boss also revealed his players are well committed and engaged following the difficult period before the international break. Madrid played one of their best games of the season when they won by five goals to nil against Shakhtar Donetsk, bringing back a good momentum ahead of the El Clasico.
“I like everyone’s attitude, I see that every day in training. The team is focused. We have not had a fantastic time but the players are engaged and with good focus and motivation to train every day. We played our best match against Shakhtar, we did really well and we have to continue like this,” he said.
Real Madrid’s league game against Athletic Bilbao was postponed due to the South American’s late arrival to Spain after the international break but the 34-time league champions will return to action on Sunday against their fierce rivals.
