Real Madrid and Villarreal have reportedly reached an agreement over the season-long loan transfer of Takefusa Kubo this summer.

Villarreal has been reported to be in the lead for the signature of the 19-year-old earlier this week and now set to land the player for next season.

The Yellow Submarine are believed to have offered the teenage sensation a vital role in their project for the 2020/21 season under new manager Unai Emery.

He had received many offers from top European clubs including Bayern Munich but remains keen on playing in the Spanish top flight, where Madrid can keenly keep a close eye on him.

Los Blancos have bookmarked the Japan international as part of their long-term plans and are hopeful that his loan spell at Villarreal will aid his development. Zinedine Zidane’s side were believed to be in constant communication with the teenager during his loan spell last season, as they have rate him highly at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Emery’s side are also set to return to European football after finishing fifth in La Liga Santander during the 2019/20 season.

Kubo played at Real Mallorca in the league last season and was seen as one of their top performers despite suffering relegation from the division. He scored four times and provided four assists in 23 starts for them, while also making 12 substitute appearances in addition.

Madrid also refused to add the possibility of Villarreal having the option to buy the player after his loan spell at Estadio de la Ceramica.

The club will also reportedly cater for Kubo’s salary of around 2.5 million euros net, which means a total cost of some five million euros.

Former Arsenal manger is said to have played a key role in convincing the youngster to choose Villarreal over the many other options on the table.
