Karim Benzema bagged his 200th goal for Real Madrid in La Liga in the game against RCD Mallorca, where he made a 4-goal contribution in the club’s emphatic victory.
The Frenchman has staggering stats this season with eight goals and seven assists in just six games. Karim has more goals and assists than any other player in Europe’s top 5 leagues up to this point this season. The striker’s impressive contribution of 15 goals has helped Madrid to score 21 goals in the league so far this season, which is their best start since the 1987-88 season.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelloti has also applauded the French striker after his four-goal contribution on matchday six. The Italian said, “The fact he’s scored so many goals might make you forget that he also combining well and coming deeper to play assists. He’s a forward who doesn’t only score goals. He’s complete in every sense.”
Benzema has been ever consistent with his performance for the Spanish Capital over the years and is a reliable source of goals for the club. The French international has scored 200 goals in 389 league appearances, with a goal-to-game ratio of approximately one goal in every 1.9 games.
With this remarkable achievement, Karim Benzema has become one of the ten players to have scored 200 or more goals in La Liga and the only 4th player from Los Blancos to do so. Lionel Messi, with 474 goals in 520 games for Barcelona, is at the top of the list, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo with 311 goals in just 292 appearances for Real Madrid.
After scoring the 200th goal Benzema told Real Madrid TV: “This club is my life. I’m proud of the goals I’ve scored. I hope I can score more. I try to play my football, which makes me happy. Get around the pitch, give assists, score goals and help my teammates. My favourite goal would have to be my first one, which came against Xerez at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu from an assist from Ruud van Nistelrooy. I dedicate this record to my family, my sons, to the Real Madrid fans and to everyone who shows me love.”
