Real Madrid sealed a 1-0 win over Getafe on Thursday when Sergio Ramos converted from the penalty spot to put Los Blancos four points clear.

The game proved to be arguably the most difficult game Zinedine Zidane’s side have played since the return of the La Liga season.

They were far from convincing against Getafe at the Alfredo di Stefano Stadium, and it took a foul on Dani Carvajal to ensure that Madrid extend their unbeaten record to six.

Madrid were made to suffer in the early minutes of the game, with the away side playing compact football and leaving no spaces in behind for the home team to penetrate.

Zidane rested star man Eden Hazard for the game as a precautionary measure, having seen the Belgium international suffer knocks in their last outing against Espanyol.

For Jose Bordalas’ men, it will be a disappointing trip back home without a point but it is Madrid who will welcome a huge win in their title hopes.

The win ensures that Madrid are now four points ahead of fierce rivals Barcelona with five games still to be played in the league.

With the home side struggling to control the tempo of the game, the introduction of Federico Valverde, Marco Asensio and Rodrygo made life comfortable for Madrid.

The league leaders will now look forward to crunching contest against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
